About the webinar:
1) Alternative Neighbourhood based Early Learning Programme
Save the Children Philippines will share how they create spaces for learning and development for the most deprived children, through an alternative, neighbourhood-based early learning programme focusing on development of their emergent literacy, numeracy, self-care, health practices and socialization. Emphasis is made on the child as the centre of learning in an engaging environment, where they learn and have fun in the process.
2) ECD Camp - An Alternative School Readiness Intervention
In 2008, a baseline survey showed that 29% of children enrolled in grade-I with minimum pre-primary education in the Meherpur district (Bangladesh). Save the Children International started the ECD camp in June, 2010 along with other school readiness interventions for 5+ children in line with universal pre-primary education. The long term result of this programme is to improve learning outcomes that children’s lifelong foundation for education and smooth transition into formal schooling, more academic performance and successful completion of primary cycle.
The webinar will then be followed by a two week long e-discussion on the topic of pre-primary transitions (from 8 - 22 September 2016) on the ARNEC Facebook e-discussion group. Anyone can join!
